What is CTE?
--CTE stands for Career and Technical Education
--We have nine CTE programs at TVHS
            --Digital Photography
            --Mechanical Drafting
            --Film and TV
            --Professional Sales and Marketing
            --Technical Theater
             --Software and App Development
            --Graphic Design/ Student Publications
            --Animation
            --Sports Medicine

What is JTED (or CTED)?
--JTED stands for the Joint Technical Education District.  CTED is a recent change to the program name and stands for Career and Technical Educational District.  It's the same great program, with a new name.  JTED and CTED are the same thing, and you'll hear both for awhile until the new name takes hold!
--Pima CTED offers classes county wide.  Please go to pimajted.org for a full list of the courses they offer. (There are 59 programs that currently serve over 15,787 students from Pima County, San Manuel, Rio Rico and Nogales!!)
--On the Tanque Verde campus, we offer two JTED programs:  Animal Systems and Precision Manufacturing.
--Juniors and seniors may use their early release time to attend JTED courses on other campuses.

Why take CTE and JTED classes?
--Our classes are  hands-on, real-world classes that prepare students to pass state assessment and career certification exams.
--Our 2, 3 and 4 year programs allow students to learn skills and make business and industry connections that can lead to jobs.
--High school students who take CTE courses graduate both high school and college in greater numbers than students who don't.
--There are 6 million open jobs in the U.S. right now, but too few people with the sklls to fill them.  Nothing teaches STEM skills like CTE and parents who encourage their kids to do CTE are helping to secure their future.

What is a CTSO?
--CTSO stands for Career and Technical Student Organization.  These are student clubs connected to business and industry fields. Through these clubs, students gain leadership skills, business and industry connections, competitive practice and potential awards, and resume building experiences.
--CTSO's go on field trips to tour community businesses, participate in community events and they compete in local, regional, state and national competitions.
--Our CTE/JTED classes provide membership to  DECA (Marketing), SkillsUSA (Photo, Drafting, Computer Sciences, Film &TV), FFA (Animal Sciences), HOSA (Sports Med) and Thespians (Stagecraft).
