Emily Gray Junior High After School Programs
Acting Academy by Drama Kids International

Enthusiastic students who learn to speak out clearly and relate confidently with others will have an inside track to lifetime success. Drama Kids develops all kids. We’re a place where all children, from the shy to the outgoing can develop at their own pace, with plenty of positive encouragement. Our specialty is using a wide range of unique drama activities to focus the bold, outspoken child and to draw out the quiet child or the inarticulate child and help them reach into themselves to discover their full potential. At Drama Kids International of Tucson, we use a progressive curriculum that allows students to have some serious fun, while also enabling them to develop: *Acting skills *Public speaking skills *Creative Thinking Skills *Leadership Skills *Team Building Skills *Networking and Social Skills *Quick Thinking & Spontaneity *Self Confidence and Self-Esteem *A Positive Approach to Life. Unlike typical drama programs, most of which focus on preparation for a single performance, the Drama Kids “secret sauce” is a fun, fast paced, and developmental curriculum consisting of over 450 unique and detailed lesson plans that ensures happy and successful students.

ACES Garden Club

The garden club will be the stewards of our school garden. We will learn to grow seedlings, plant & maintain a pollinator garden, add art & much more! All the while we will learn the fundamentals of cultivation, composting, harvesting, pollinations & more!

Art Enrichment: Dreams & Wishes

Color Me Mine offers creative fun: an opportunity to learn new techniques and make art that you can use. Finished pottery is food, dishwasher, and microwave safe.

Bricks 4 Kidz: Laws of Motion

Kids will launch paper footballs at targets with their catapult models, gives their mini-figures a ride on a motorized see-saw and swing-o-rama rides, and practice telling time as they build a clock model Test out some of Sir Isaac Newton’s Laws of Motion with models that illustrate the concepts of inertia, force, mass, acceleration, and the observation that every action has an equal & opposite reaction.

Golf
TGA makes it convenient and fun for your child to learn and play golf right on their school campus!  Our curriculums were specially designed by industry-leading golf professionals and education specialists to ensure that the lesson plans are age-appropriate and easy to understand and retain. Students will experience a mix of golf instruction, rules and etiquette lessons, educational components, character development lessons and physical activity as they advance through the five-level program.  Our screened and certified instructors are trained to help your student athlete develop a strong foundation of skills and knowledge as well as a passion for the sport. TGA provides all equipment. First time TGA students will receive a TGA hat and TGA Student Handbook. Students earn TGA color coded hat clips at every level. Maximum 10:1 student to instructor ratio.

#HideTucsonRocks Rock Painting & Scavenger Hunts

Be part of Tucson’s latest craze: Rock painting scavenger hunts! We’re painting rocks to hide and share with our community to enjoy. Unicorns, Pokémon, animals, monsters, you name it & we’ll paint it! Each day we will create works of art to place around town or hide them around school for others to enjoy. When you find a rock, take a picture and share with #HideTucsonRocks … where will your rocks end up?
Grades 1-6

Students will enjoy preparing, baking, and decorating themed holiday treats to share with friends and family.

Hula Dance

Learn authentic Hawaiian Hula dance moves, Hawaiian language terminology, and songs. Each class will consist of rehearsing basic steps and techniques to music. Students will learn choreographed routines. No experience necessary!

 Japanese Activities for Children

The class will introduce many fun-filled Japanese activities. The instructor was born and raised in Japan and will use the toys and materials from Japan and show how to juggle bean bags and do tricks with strings. The students will also learn Origami and eat noodles using chopsticks and make rolled Sushi. Simple Japanese greetings and manners will be taught each class. This is a great class for students who would like to experience a glimpse of Japanese culture.

Origami

Origami means paper folding in Japanese. Transforming a piece of square paper into a 3D figure is an amazing process.  The students will learn simple folding techniques and create many fun shapes: animals, sea creatures, insects, flowers, and even action figures such as jumping frogs, a bird with flapping wings, and Ninja stars. We will also create functional items such as paper clips, door knob hangers and refrigerator magnets using the figures we created. “Paper cranes” have become a symbol of the world peace. The story of thousand cranes will be taught in the class. The first time and experienced folders are welcome.  The students will take home their creation each class.

TGA makes it convenient and fun for your child to learn and play tennis right on their school campus!  Our proprietary curriculums for elementary school and middle school were created by TGA's education experts and the United States Tennis Association (USTA). Students will experience a mix of tennis instruction, rules & etiquette lessons, educational components, character development lessons and physical activity as they advance through the five-level program.  Our screened and certified instructors have a passion for working with children and are trained to help your student athlete develop a strong foundation of skills and knowledge as well as a passion for the sport.

Rock Wall Fun & Games

Beginning climbers will learn to boulder climb across the wall in a familiar and safe environment. Experienced climbers will practice their skills and will complete challenges and play games on the wall. We will also take breaks from the wall and play games in the MPR. Students will participate in relay races, obstacle courses, and play games.

Students learn about growing plants from seeds, caring for the garden, developing structure around the garden, and adding art to the TVES garden environment.
