The much anticipated solar eclipse is happening on Monday, August 21! We are excited to have the opportunity to use this rare astrological event as a part of our Science curriculum and to share the experience with our students. But, as always, safety is our first priority!
For the safety of all children, we will not have outdoor recess on Monday, August 21 during the eclipse. We don't want students trying to get a glimpse of the eclipse without protective eyewear. We are, however, working on plans for students to safely view the eclipse with NASA approved eyewear provided by the Planetary Science Institute or possibly classroom-made pinhole projectors. More information will follow as we firm up our plans. Please note that we will be sending home an informational sheet with an “Opt Out” option. If you do not want your child to view the eclipse with the safety eyewear or a pinhole projector, please look for this form in the backpack at the end of this week.
