Believing the funds will make a significant and lasting enhancement for the performing arts program, and a valuable impact for students, the Tanque Verde Foundation (TVF) board voted to grant Ms. Hopkins the full $8100, allowing her to acquire the full implement of sound equipment needed.
The timing of the grant awards allowed Vieri Tenuta, TVF Vice President, and Dr. Scott Hagerman, Superintendent, to surprise Ms. Hopkins at the Spring Choir Concert and Musical Theatre show, Mulan Jr. And what an emotional surprise it was!
Audience members stood and applauded Ms. Hopkins, who said she has never been so surprised, and was overjoyed at having this opportunity for her students.
One of her favorite quotes, from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto states, "Music education is a powerful tool for attaining children's full intellectual, creative and social potential."
Ms. Hopkins is an outstanding member of the Tanque Verde Unified School District, a teacher who has a gift for connecting with students and encouraging them to explore their talents.
Congratulations, Ms. Hopkins!
