HELP AVAILABILITY: I teach at two schools: EGJH and TVHS. Since I commute between the 2 campuses most mornings, it is best to schedule a morning help session in advance (email me, speak with me in person) and I can make sure I am on the EGJH campus at the scheduled time to help you.
Location for help: EGJH campus, room 201. In the afternoon, I may be on the stage if not in 201.
Morning Help Times: I am available to help EGJH students before school any weekday 7:45-8:15am by appointment only, and during break time on some days by appointment only.
Afternoon Help Times: I am available to provide help to EGJH students after school any weekday except Wednesdays until 3:45pm. Please make an appointment.
TIPS FOR SUCCESS:
-KNOW IMPORTANT DATES - For any of my classes (Musical Theatre, Choir or Stagecraft), it is imperative to turn in assignments on time, and attend all rehearsals and performances. Information about assignment due dates, deadlines, and rehearsals and concert dates will be posted in 3 locations: 1) On the whiteboard in room 201, 2) On specific class this website - click on the specific class to the left, and all dates will be displayed with detailed informaiton, 3) On the Google Calendar - click on the class Google Calendar to the right on this page, or it is also displayed at the bottom of the specific class page (select your class at the left).
-PRACTICE AT HOME AND COMPLETE & SUBMIT PRACTICE LOGS- Homework for Choir and Musical Theatre to practice songs is in the form of a practice log. I will assign a Practice Log for a specific amount of time (30-60 minutes) due in 1-2 weeks after assigning. Please see your school email and/or Google classroom for the songs you will need to practice. I record YOUR singing part (P1, P2, Alto/Bar, S1 or S2) - you need to play that recording several times, sing along with it and document the minutes you practiced on the Practice Log form available to download on your class webpage or in Google classroom.
-TAKE INITIATIVE AND STAY ON TASK: This is especially important for Stagecraft class, but applies to all classes. Don't just wait for Mrs. Hopkins to tell you what to do or how to do something. Think ahead, plan and try to predict what is happening next. Think: How can I be useful? What should I be doing now? What should I be doing next? How can I make the most of the time I have? This helps us save time as a class and move forward with rehearsals and creating the sets. Don't get off-task during down-time; use downtime efficiently so it doesn't become wasted time. Use all of your time wisely.
