Beginning November 1, 2021, we will accept Open Enrollment applications for the 2022-23 school year. Open Enrollment students will be offered placement subject to capacity (school, grade level, program and/or services). The Open Enrollment application deadline is January 30, 2022 to be included in the Early Bird Lottery. TVUSD Notice of CTDS Numbers Needed for Arizona State Income Tax Filing, for Arizona Public School Tax Credit Contributions

Dear TVUSD Tax Credit Donor,

Thank you for your support of students and programs in the Tanque Verde Unified School District through your 2021 Arizona Public School Tax Credit contribution.

Recent changes to the Arizona Dept. of Revenue electronic information system may affect Arizona State Income Tax filers. The changes are specifically related to the designation of public school names and CTDS numbers. The CTDS is a nine (9) digit number that the Arizona Department of Education uses to identify Arizona public and charter schools.

The new system implemented by the State now requires the specific school name and number, rather than the district number. In addition, the school name must exactly match how it appears on the Arizona Dept. of Education School Listing. 

For your convenience, we are supplying the specific designations for each of the schools in the Tanque Verde Unified School District.

What is the Arizona state tax
 credit for public schools?
Arizona law provides a tax credit for contributions 
to public schools to support extracurricular 
activities or character education.
Eligibility Rules: 
To be eligible for a 2021 state tax credit, 
your contribution must be received or 
postmarked by April 15, 2022!
Arizona Public School Tax Credit contributions may be made through April 15, 2022 and still qualify for 2021 state tax filings. For contributions made between December 31, 2021 and April 15, 2022, the contribution may be subtracted from EITHER your 2021 or 2022 Arizona state tax bill. Contributions made after April 15, 2022 would be eligible only for 2022 state tax filings.

How does it work?

If you qualify for this state tax credit, you may write a check or use your credit card to make a 2021 OR 2022 Tax Year contribution before April 15, 2022. When you file your Arizona state taxes, you then subtract the amount of your contribution from what you owe or add the amount to your refund.
  • If you owe $800 in Arizona state taxes: Make a $400 contribution to a Tanque Verde public school, and subtract $400 from your Arizona state taxes. Your tax bill will then be $400.
  • If you are expecting an $800 refund on your Arizona state taxes: Make a $400 contribution to a Tanque Verde Public School, and add $400 to your Arizona state tax refund. Your refund will be $1,200.
You can help Tanque Verde Unified School District students and possibly lower your tax bill by making a donation.

 The state tax credit is available to ALL qualifying individual Arizona state taxpayers.

You do not need to have a child enrolled in a school to take advantage of this state tax credit. It is always best to consult a tax adviser to see if you qualify for the dollar-for-dollar credit.

A tax credit is different from a deduction, because you may subtract the whole contribution from your Arizona state tax bill. An individual may contribute as much as $200, and a couple filing jointly may contribute as much as $400 to a public school and receive the money back in the form of a tax credit.
