EGJH 7th Grader Recognized in National ACS Poetry Contest

Emily Gray JHS 7th grade student, Andrew Smith, won 2nd place in the American Chemical Society 2020 Chemists Celebrate Earth Week (CCEW) Illustrated Poem Contest with the theme “Protecting Our Planet through Chemistry.” His was one of eight entries that won recognition in the national contest.

Congratulations to the winners of the 2020 CCEW Illustrated Poem Contest!

As part of CCEW 2020, students from grades K-12 were invited to share their interpretation of this year's theme, “Protecting Our Planet through Chemistry”, in the form of illustrated poems. This year, ACS local sections submitted digital entries for the contest. Winners at the local section level qualified for the national contest. At the national level, first- and second-place prizes were awarded in four categories. Thank you to all schools and local sections that participated!
