In order to celebrate the Class of 2020, Tanque Verde High School is excited to announce that we will host a Drive Through Diploma Distribution on Tuesday, May 19th at 5:30 PM.
On Monday during senior student checkout, students will be given the choice to either take their diploma or elect to participate in the Drive Through Diploma Distribution. Students that elect to participate will be assigned a parking spot on campus (via email later Monday evening). Each senior will wear their cap, gown, and cords/stoles and ride with his/her family in ONE car, the senior cannot be the driver. We encourage you all to decorate your car in the spirit of the event. We ask that all cars be in their assigned parking spot on Tuesday evening no later than 5:30 PM.
As soon as all of the cars are ready, a pilot vehicle will lead a parade of graduate vehicles north on Melpomene Way to Catalina Highway, north on Catalina Highway to Snyder, south on Snyder to Soldier Trail, south on Soldier Trail to Fort Lowell, west on Fort Lowell to Melpomene Way, and north on Melpomene Way back to campus.
We encourage all community members to gather along the parade route to celebrate
graduates and cheer them on as they drive by. As the vehicles return and enter campus, they will proceed through the parking lot to the bus drop off loop. When the vehicle arrives at the main entrance, the senior will get out of the vehicle to receive his/her diploma while his/her family watches from the car. We would encourage families to honk their horn, use noise makers, and throw confetti out of the window, but we respectfully ask all family members to remain in the car. As soon as the senior receives his/her diploma and poses for a photo, they will exit campus.
Please note that graduation requirements are still in effect. To participate in the Drive Through Diploma Distribution, you must pay all outstanding fees, return all uniforms, instruments, and books during student checkout on May 18th. Only eligible seniors will have diplomas available during this time.
This will be a great time for families to celebrate each graduate’s accomplishments. We hope that you will elect to participate. We are all excited to celebrate the accomplishment of graduation with the Class of 2020.
We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday! Go Hawks!
