Tanque Verde High School senior Simon Field selected as Flinn Scholarship Finalist

Tanque Verde High School senior Simon Field has been selected as a Flinn Scholarship Finalist. Students are evaluated for their academic achievement, leadership and involvement, service to the community, ability to communicate, and personal characteristics. As a Senior at Tanque Verde High School, Field was appointed as a Student Governing Board Member, serving as a representative to the board of the district’s student body. He is also the Vice President of the TVHS chapter of The National Honor Society, an active member of The Chemistry Club and, along with several classmates, a World Champion Molympian. Field works in-season as a middle school head basketball coach. He also performs as an acoustic musician at various Tucson venues along with his older sister.

Field and his counselor, Mr. David Goldberg, are working with his teachers so that he can attend three university visits (U of A, ASU, NAU) which have been scheduled for him by the Flinn Foundation. Simon said he was “equally excited and humbled to have made it this far through the selection process.” He will have his final interview with a Flinn Foundation panel of interviewers in Phoenix in early March. We wish Simon all the best as he continues the interview and selection process.
