Tanque Verde HS students competed in HEAT Optimist Club Oratorical Contest, taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd places

Congratulations to the Tanque Verde students who competed in the HEAT Optimist Club Oratorical Contest on Thursday night. Paige Hammarstrom placed 3rd, Aisha O'Neil placed 2nd, and Molly Ray got 1st place!

The TVHS students wrote speeches addressing the prompt "How to heal the world with optimism."

Each student wrote an original speech to deliver, and the coordinator, Marcia Aurand  shared "The judges all agree that each of the speeches tonight was well thought out and came from the student's heart."

Molly Ray and Aisha O'Neil will move on to the district competition to compete with other students from Tucson in hopes of moving on to the state level and possible scholarships. Emily Lines and Ryann Lightcap also competed in the competition. These five students were selected from the entire mock trial class so being in the top 5 is quite an accomplishment!

"Unfortunately we don't have pictures because it was on zoom, but another example of the kids overcoming obstacles this year and rising to the challenge," stated TVHS teacher, Mr. Jeremy Samoy.

Congratulations to these TVHS orators!
