Tanque Verde HS Mock Trial teams competed at the State Tournament

US History and APUSH Teacher and Mock Trial Coach, Mr. Jeremy Samoy, shared the following description of the virtual weekend event.
"It was a grueling 3 day event on zoom, the kids really rose to the occasion and performed extremely well.
The Pink Team, Addison Goodman, Abby Gahr, Hyrum Lines, Zoe Montano, Aiden Loomis, and Ali Roberts, won 2 rounds and lost 2 rounds throughout the tournament. The rounds that they lost were extremely close, and were against quality opponents.
The Silver Team, Emma Kalway, Karah Mayer, Abby Roberts, Ryan Curran, Brandon Higgins, Aubrey Zadorozny, and Elias Acevedo, won 3 rounds and only lost 1. The round they lost was to the eventual state runner up, Trivium Preparatory Academy, and they only lost to that team by 1 point! It was an incredibly close trial, and both teams made great strides this year, and it showed in the competition.
Individually we had several students who were recognized by the judges for their outstanding role, Abby Roberts, Zoe Montano, and  Ryan Curran were nominated twice, and Emma Kalway, Addison Goodman, Brandon Higgins, and Aiden Loomis all received recognition from the judges.
Overall the judges all commented on the professionalism of the students, and commended them on their preparation. Some even joked that they were more prepared than some of the lawyers they see in their courtroom!
Making it to the state tournament in itself is a huge accomplishment, there are over 60 mock trial teams in the state of Arizona, and these two teams were a part of the 'sweet 16!"
Congratulations to all these hardworking and talented Tanque Verde High School Mock Trial students and their coaches!
