Tucson, AZ – Mr. Carlos Ruiz has informed Pima County School Superintendent Dustin J. Williams of his resignation from the Tanque Verde Unified School District Governing Board, effective December 13, 2019.
As per ARS 15-302, “within thirty days after notification of a vacancy, the school district governing board may submit up to three names to the county school superintendent for consideration of an appointment to fill the vacancy. The county school superintendent is not required to appoint a governing board member from the list of names submitted by the governing board.”
Out of respect to the process, Pima County School Superintendent Dustin J. Williams will now review and consider any qualified candidates who are interested in filling the vacancy.
Qualified candidates who would like to be considered for the vacancy must submit an affidavit of qualification and candidate appointment questionnaire to the Pima County School Superintendent’s Office by January 13, 2020, at 5:00 pm. The application packet can be found at: http://www.schools.pima.gov/elections. The completed packet may be hand-delivered to our office at 200 N. Stone Ave. or emailed to [email protected].
All applications will be thoroughly reviewed and considered by the Superintendent and Chief Deputy.
The appointment will begin on the date of appointment and will continue through December 31, 2020. This position will be on the November 2020 General Election Ballot as a four-year term.
