Traffic Control Change at Tanque Verde Rd./T.V. Loop Rd. during Construction

The District has been notified by the Pima County Department of Transportation that there will be traffic control changes in the area of the Tanque Verde Rd. /Tanque Verde Loop Rd. signal project beginning Thursday, December 12th..

On Thursday, December 12th, milling of the road edges on both Tanque Verde Rd. and Tanque Verde Loop Rd.will take place. Expect traffic restrictions and delays!

Beginning Monday, December 16th, there will be extensive work to the area immediately in the area of the HAWK crossing at Emily Gray Jr. High School. There will be restrictions to pedestrian access in the work zone, which are anticipated to be in place through Friday, December 20th. Parents should use the student drop-off loops, rather than dropping their student(s) on the north side of Tanque Verde Rd. to avoid crossing at the HAWK light, if at all possible during this time.

The contractor is making every effort to minimize the impact at our schools, especially during the student drop-off and release periods. However, delays due to the recent heavy rains will push the major paving beyond the intended Winter Break work period, causing more work to be done while school is in session.

Please be advised that the speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph in the construction zone (on both Tanque Verde Rd. and Tanque Verde Loop Rd.) for the duration of the project on a 24/7 basis. The speed reduction will be enforced by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Drivers and pedestrians should take extra care. Please pay attention, exercise caution and be safe when in the construction zone!
