History teacher Chris Voutsas was about to begin his third period class when representatives of the Tucson Chapter of the Daughters Of The American Revolution entered his classroom with a bouquet and news of an award he'd received.  As Social Studies Teacher Of The Year, Mr. Voutsas is in the running for the national award, to be presented this Spring at the DAR's Continental Congress event in Washington, D.C.

Among those recommending Mr. V were former student and member of Congress Gabrielle Giffords, former student and one-time President of the Arizona Senate Tim Bee, and congressional candidate Jonathan Paton.  Looking on proudly at the presentation were Superintendent Doug Price, and two of Mr. V's former student teachers - EGJHS Principal Greg Miller and Governing Board member Claire Place.

Ann Kellison and Jocelyn Clark of the DAR were pleased to make the presentation, which brought a broad smile from Mr. Voutsas, who, in the words of Superintendent Price, "should win the national award", a sentiment shared by the students in the room.  Congratulations Mr. Voutsas!
