The Governor has ordered statewide school closures through the end of the 2019-2020 school year. Beginning Monday, March 30th, we will provide educational opportunities for all TVHS students.
Accessing Remote Learning Opportunities
In order to ensure all students have access to the remote learning opportunities, we are checking out electronic devices for all students. If you need to check out a Chromebook device, please send an email to [email protected] and let us know you need to check out a device. We will coordinate with those in need on a case-by-case basis.
If your family does not currently have Internet access at home, Cox Communications is offering the first two months free for qualifying families with children. Click HERE to view the offer.
Levels of Educational Opportunities to be Provided
TVHS teachers are developing three levels of learning opportunities to be delivered via school/teacher webpages and Google Classroom.
= Essential learning - which are the most critical things students need to learn and continue to work on.
= Extended learning - which will give students additional opportunities to challenge themselves or provide additional practice, thereby building on and extending the essential learning.
= Enrichment learning - which is a combination of creative activities that our staff develop, as well as online resources they provide, which may not be as closely aligned to the lessons of the week, but enrich the essential learning.
There is a REMOTE LEARNING FOR GRADES 9-12 tab on the left side this page with useful information and links. Most of the TVHS teachers are posting work in their individual Google Classrooms. Do not hesitate to directly email your teachers if you have any questions. They are here to help!
Time Expectations for Essential Learning
Here are the time expectations to complete the most essential learning objectives. The lesson can be done at any time. We also understand that due to the current world situation, completing lessons may at times be difficult if not impossible.
Expectations for Essentials
First Week Content Areas
1 hour per day
1.5 hours per day
ELA Math, Science
2 hours per day
ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies
30 minutes per course per day
30-45 minutes per core course per day
1 hour per week for electives
We want these education opportunities to support the student, not add to the stress they may already be encountering. For this reason the learning opportunities provided by teachers can help student grades, but not harm them. Students that want additional learning can use the extension and enrichment sections. More information will be coming about how teachers will handle grade opportunities during this time.
