Andrew Osborne has been selected as a 2026 KEYS Research Intern, earning a spot in one of Arizona’s most prestigious summer STEM programs. Hosted by the University of Arizona through the BIO5 Institute, the KEYS Research Internship provides high-achieving high school students with a unique opportunity to conduct real-world scientific research alongside professional scientists.
The competitive seven-week program, held during the summer, places students directly into university research labs where they work on cutting-edge projects in fields such as bioscience, medicine, engineering, data science, and environmental health. Interns are paired with faculty mentors and research teams, allowing them to gain hands-on experience in a professional lab environment.
During the first week of the program, students receive intensive training in laboratory techniques, data analysis, and research methods. The following weeks are spent actively contributing to ongoing research projects, where interns design experiments, collect and analyze data, and collaborate with their peers and mentors. The experience culminates in a final research presentation, where students showcase their findings in a professional setting.
The KEYS internship is highly selective, making Andrew’s acceptance a significant accomplishment. The program is designed not only to strengthen students’ scientific knowledge but also to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills that are essential for future success in STEM fields.
Andrew’s achievement reflects his dedication to academic excellence and his passion for scientific discovery. As he prepares to join researchers at the University of Arizona this summer, he will gain invaluable experience that will help shape his future academic and career path.
Congratulations to Andrew Osborne on this outstanding honor.
