This past weekend marked an exciting and successful showing for our school’s mock trial program, as two teams competed in the highly competitive state tournament. The event brought together the top 16 teams from across the state, all presenting their cases at the prestigious Sandra Day O’Connor District Courthouse.
Leading the way was the Black Team—Emerson Loomis, Eleanor Lopez-Hawkins, Diamond Gonzalez, Noah McGill, Ryder Desjardin, Jack Elmerick, and Chloe Lopez-Hawkins—who delivered an outstanding performance throughout the tournament. Their hard work and skill earned them a place in the final round, where they ultimately secured an impressive 2nd place finish overall. This achievement marks the second consecutive year that a team from our program has advanced to the final round, highlighting the program’s continued excellence and growth.
The Gold Team—Cassidy Jones, Jeannie McCallum, Carter Portewig, Rene Cruz, Annike Lopez-Obrecht, Liberty Allen, and Kenzi Miles—also demonstrated strong performances throughout the day. While their final ranking is unknown, the team gained valuable experience competing at such a high level, setting a strong foundation for future success.
Overall, it was a remarkable weekend for both teams, showcasing dedication, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence in mock trial.
