Bond Projects

Dr. Scott Hagerman, Superintendent, presented a new construction update at the February 10, 2021 Governing Board Meeting, including details of the planning process, assessments of the capacity and space utilization at Emily Gray Jr. High School and Tanque Verde High School. The Board thanked the members of the Facilities Planning Committee for their time and valuable input that resulted in a very exciting plan for projects at the two schools.


Through the input and feedback process provided by the Facilities Planning Committee, the following were the top concepts identified for Learning Environment

• Engaging Community Space with Flexible Seating
  
  
• Adequate Classroom/Learning Space
  
  
• Covered Outdoor Areas/Classrooms
  
  
• Collaboration Spaces
  
  
• Research Facilities/Multipurpose Labs

Dr. Hagerman noted the plan is to separate projects into demolition, renovation and new construction to allow for streamlining of the process. The project management consultants with EPlus3 Consulting are forecasting that cost savings and an earlier start date may be achieved by their proposed separation and project bidding process.
